These photos were taken Jan 18, 2008 in the Santa Barbara Channel. These were taken either during or soon after the mom had given birth. We think that it was indeed while we were watching. She was circling the surface of the water and then a swift tailfluke, then moments later the baby appeared. Which while watching had not been seen until that point. Then after that the baby was on the surface the entire time kicking away and breathing very well. The mom would assist the baby to surface on a couple occasions. We only hope and think that this baby will grow to be a healthy individual.
