Dalls porpoises are a robust porpoise that have a black and white body and a short dorsal fin. They are very fast swimmers, known as the "ferrari's" of the oceans. They have reached speeds of 35mph for short distances. They are indeed porpoises not dolphins, the difference is in the shape of there teeth not whether they have a beak or not. Porpoises have a spade shaped tooth where dolphins are conical. Dalls porpoise when they surface leave a typical 'rooster tail' splash. They are a pelagic species that live in colder waters but have a vast range where they are seen.
They rarely if ever leave the surface or leap out of the water, unless being chased by their predators the Orca.
