Blue whales are the largest animal that have ever lived, reaching up to 100ft. long at times most of the ones in the Santa Barbara Channel only reach lengths of around 80 feet max. They actually have a grayish skin but glows a brilliant blue just beneath the surface of the water. Amazing for an animal as large as it is, they eat one of the smallest meals, (plankton and krill), they also are a baleen whale.

liquidpixphotography > A close up look at a Blue Whale that has visited the Santa Barbara Channel for numerous years. It has been scarred by a possible exploding harpoon, but managed to get away, the scar goes clear to the other side, this is possibly the exit. When it breaths it sounds very hollow. But this animal is doing great as can be!!
